  • · Orders placed by medical students must be ordered under their preceptor and require an e-signature.

  • Orders placed by medical students will be unverified and will not cross to nursing and ancillary applications until they are e-signed.
  • · Preceptors use the Sign Queue to sign or reject medical student orders.

ED Face Sheet

  • Allergies and weight will be added
  • Correction to last hospital visit, and addition of last ED visit and last ADM visit
  • Community Hospitals only – addition of Discharge date/time and disposition
  • Provides additional information

Preferred Name

  • Registration will begin capturing the patient preferred name in standard field.
  • The preferred name will display in brackets on the ED Face Sheet and the YHC Physician Rounds List Report.
  • The legal name will display on the ED Tracker and Acute Status Board. The preferred name will display in the chart.
  • Resolves issues with lab result distribution
  • Consistently captures preferred name

Patient Search in ED Tracker

  • Currently, using Find Patient in ED Tracker will only display patient accounts for the specific facility. Using Find Patient in Acute Status Board displays patients for all facilities.
  • With this change, Find Patient in ED Tracker will display patients for all facilities. Once the chart is open, you may be prompted to select a specific account.
  • Reduces clicks
  • More intuitive for locums

Order Set Blitz

Nov 7-9

  • Working with physicians for each area, we will be creating new order sets to improve efficiency and streamline the current order sets.
  • The new order sets will be labelled with “preclick” at the end of the order set name. Please note that all existing order sets will still be available.
  • Changes such as pre-selecting orders, collapsing/expanding sections and moving sections will be in scope of the blitz.
  • Content changes (e.g. med changes) will be out of scope.
  • Reduces clicks
  • Reduces scrolling
  • Improves order set usability

ED Report

The following changes will be made to the ED Report:

  • The three existing ED report templates will be combined into one ED report template
  • Prescriptions will be removed
  • The duplicate ED Diagnosis field will be removed
  • Sections (ED MDM, ED Procedures) can be added to the report using “Add Content”
  • ED Diagnosis is only required once
  • Improves formatting in Plexia
  • Removes unconfirmed home meds from report

Preg Urine Dip POC

Pregnancy POCi results will be documented electronically by nursing and will display on the ED Tracker. Urinalysis results will remain on paper and continue to be scanned into the chart.

Admitting Provider for
C-Section Newborn Admissions

The OB/GYN will no longer be listed as the Admitting Provider for C-Section newborn admissions. Since the GP OB will be the Admitting and Attending Provider, the surgeons will no longer have newborns on their Rounds List.
